29th June 2013: An update on the sequel

Posted by Mark Henthorne on Saturday, June 29, 2013

My wife has been busy over the last few months applying for a new job which means I have been unable to have much computer time hence the delay in posting a new entry to this blog. Now that she has found a new job I am now able to write a new post and more importantly write more of the sequel to Everything to Nothing which currently has the working title of 'She Had Everything'. Thoughts, readers? A good title considering how Sally's life unravelled in Everything to Nothing? Let me know your thoughts.

My aim with the sequel is to finish with near enough the same word count as Everything to Nothing, therefore 158,000. Currently I have c. 20,000 however the most important thing is that I know where I want the story to go, where I want the characters to end-up. Trust me, it is hard living life with a novel stuck in your head which is fighting to get out! All I want to do now is get my thoughts into words and finish it although I am not going to make the same mistake that I did with Everything to Nothing and rush the ending (but trust me, the ending is still fantastic!).

I was planning to spend some time writing today but instead I have been expanding the distribution for Everything to Nothing which is something I should have done a long time ago! I have tried to upload it to Nook but for some reason they only accept American details such as bank accounts, I believe I have succeeded in uploading to Kobo and now I am waiting for it to be uploaded to Smashwords (38th in the queue apparently). I kept on getting error messages when uploading to Smashwords so I have spent most of today reformatting the ebook version in Word although this version has previously uploaded successfully to Amazon. All very frustrating but I appear to have got there in the end (37th in queue.....).

To give a sneak peak into where the characters are at in the sequel. David is currently fleeing Mr. Gallagher's relentless pursuit of him in South East Asia. He has been very foolish and not kept himself to himself and has just been caught in an illegal brothel by the Cambodian police. Concerned he is about to be shipped to Phnom Penh, he bribes the police and is released after which he has made a vow to murder anyone if they so much as glance in his direction..... David's final destination? Australia but more of that in a later post.....

And how about poor Sally? She is currently languishing in a facial reconstruction clinic in Geneva paid for by her father, the forever scheming Mr. Gallagher. Yes, unfortunately Sally is back in her father's evil clutches and as previously hinted in a previous post, Mr. Gallagher's past is going to be explored in much greater detail and it is the past that Sally finds (with some help from a deceased friend who completed their own research before she died.....) which will lead to the end of Mr. Gallagher.....

I have not started to write the sections of the book concerning Sally's children but I know where and what they will be doing. Maybe by using Sally's children I can extend this series into a trilogy and make it a true saga... Maybe.....

Until next time, enjoy reading and take care.
