Wow.

June 9, 2022

Wow. Just over 7 years since my last blog post. How time flies…..

I’m actually speechless that I have neglected this website for as long as I have but a lot of things have happened during the last 7 years…..

The most important is that in August 2016 we welcomed our daughter into the world. That was an emotional time and remains so!

One needs to remember that I write part-time, as a hobby almost, while also working full-time while also doing plenty of volunteering for various different initiatives. Therefore whenever I did write it was over the weekend, or early in the morning or late in the evening.

Yeah, having a child makes it nigh on impossible to write on the weekend, or early in the morning or late in the evening!

Basically on the weekend we’re her taxi service to her fantastic social life (she’s 5!) and in the evenings I’m too tired to do much more than zonk on the sofa and watch some rubbish on Netflix… How times change….!

So to say it has been difficult to find time to write in the last 5, nearly 6 years would a sweeping understatement!

But I kept on chipping away at it and finally finished the sequel and it was only when I finished it that I realised another reason why it took so long to finish – it’s over 500 pages, 256,000 words! Or to put it another way, 1,335,930 characters (including spaces) – that’s a lot of keyboard strokes!

Part 2 has gone in ways I never expected, with more characters and story lines than I ever expected. Of course I’m going to write this, but I truly believe that it is a fantastic read, and as somebody said to me who has read Part 2, my writing has definitely matured. I’d also be interesting in hearing people’s views on whether writing the whole book in first person works.

There are sample chapters available on this website http://www.everythingtonothing.co.uk/sample-chapters.php and Part 1 and Part are available to download on Amazon or it is possible to order print copies:-

Part 1

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Everything-Nothing-Mark-Henthorne/dp/1468189344/

Part 2

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Everything-Nothing-Part-Mark-Henthorne/dp/B09LGJVP8B/

One of things I find difficult to do is condense hundreds of thousands of words and years of writing into a short synopsis so please believe me when I say the books are better than the synopses read!

For now my focus is going to be on marketing Part 1 and Part 2, trying to find an Agent and a Publisher and then I’ll settle down and try to get Part 3 finished!

Take care and enjoy reading!

29th May 2015: Have a guess?! Yep, no time!

May 29, 2015

It has again been a while since I last added a submission to this blog and as usual there have been quite a few reasons.

For the first couple of months since my last post, every weekend and after work have been taken up with sorting out our new house. Thankfully this ongoing project appears to have reached completion and all the DIY is done. We still need to get the outside of the house painted and the gardens tidied up, but other than these outstanding points, everything is done!

Thankfully a...

5th January 2015: Moving home…..

January 18, 2015

Happy New Year to all my readers and I hope you all had a wonderful festive period!

We have finally moved home to a lovely house in a much quieter part of London from our previous residence in King’s Cross. It is such a lovely house and everybody, from the decorators to the removal company, have been very helpful. I wouldn’t say it was a stressful experience but it was frustrating. I don’t like being out of control and when liaising with the solicitors I was
definitely out of control how...

8th November 2014: No time...

November 8, 2014
Yet again it has been too long since I posted anything to this blog. The reason this time is that all my spare time during the summer (after work, weekends, every spare minute) was spent traipsing around London trying to find a new place to live.

Thankfully, after much blood, sweat and tears, we managed to find somewhere and thankfully it all seems to progressing quite well (fingers crossed, touch wood, hope for the best). We should be exchanging contracts soon and moving in hopefully at the ...

14th June 2014: David…..

June 14, 2014

So yet again it has been a long time since I last posted anything to this blog, but for once the reason for the delay is that I have been spending a lot of time writing recently and David’s story is nearly finished! Well, when I say nearly finished I don’t mean totally finished. My goal when writing this section of the book was to get him settled into Australia and he is very nearly settled, however, there will be plenty more to write about regarding David in the future.

For now though he ...

2nd March 2014: A Frustrating Time.....

March 2, 2014

Over the last week I have spent as much time as possible between work and time with my wife modifying the sales channels and website for Everything to Nothing. There are a few reasons why.

With millions of books published each year and so many different sales channels available to readers, who has the time to read the original long description that I was using for Everything to Nothing? Probably not that many people. So I have made the description shorter and also, I’m hoping, more appealing...

19th February 2014: A long time.....

February 19, 2014

Well it has been an absolute age since I last posted to this blog and there are a couple of reasons why.

I have been very busy at work with late finishes being the order of the day recently.

Perhaps more importantly though is when I have an opportunity to write I spend my time working on the sequel to Everything to Nothing and the purpose of this entry is to give an update on the sequel progress.

Currently the word count is up to 50,000 so around a third completed (if the word count of Everythin...

29th June 2013: An update on the sequel

June 29, 2013

My wife has been busy over the last few months applying for a new job which means I have been unable to have much computer time hence the delay in posting a new entry to this blog. Now that she has found a new job I am now able to write a new post and more importantly write more of the sequel to Everything to Nothing which currently has the working title of 'She Had Everything'. Thoughts, readers? A good title considering how Sally's life unravelled in Everything to Nothing? Let me know your ...

6th April 2013: The Characters

April 6, 2013

It has been over two months since I last wrote and the main reason for this is that I started a new job on 18th February and getting up to speed in this new role has been taking up all my time. I wouldn’t say I am totally up to speed now, but I’ve certainly got a little bit more breathing space to start to think about blogging again and who knows, I might even find the time to continue with the sequel.

Thankfully in London it appears that spring has finally arrived so now that we should...

3rd February 2013: And as I faced the Sun I cast no shadow...

February 3, 2013

Recently I have been giving my book away for free as an eBook on Kindle and also a 30% discount on Lulu. Since the promotion started there has been c. 150 downloads on Kindle which is just fantastic! As I indicated on the first blog, I had no idea that getting my book ‘out there’ would be so challenging especially when I am working full-time. Once this promotion is over I will definitely do it again and I will probably offer the book using Transact Socially or other such means so it remai...
